Grub Street

Grub Street is an award-winning small, niche independent publisher, publishing only books on cookery and military aviation history.

Cookery

Voted International Cookbook Publisher of the Year at the World Cookbook Awards in 2000, a number of our cookbooks have won prizes over the years. Focusing on the food not glossy celebrity-chefs, we are able to bring our readers, authentic, tried and tested delicious recipes time and time again.

We are aware of gaps in the market and aim to publish what our readers can’t find elsewhere. In recent years, we have seen an enormous rise in demand for books about healthy eating, allergies and intolerances, diabetes and raw food.

Nigella Lawson once described us as ‘the cookery publisher with a culinary conscience’, and Matthew Fort said we produce ‘proper books for proper cooks’.

Militaria

Formed in 1982, over the years Grub Street has built up a well-respected and critically acclaimed military history list focusing on aviation. As well as supporting the careers of well-established authors such as Norman Franks and Christopher Shores we also think it is important to nurture new authors and of course to encourage veterans to tell their own stories in their own words.

The most exciting development in recent years has been our Boys series giving the reader intimate knowledge of how post-war aircraft such as the Lightning, Hunter, Vulcan, Victor, Valiant, Jaguar, Phantom and Buccaneer were operated.

With a large and successful backlist we are proud to publish books that make a significant contribution to historical aviation archives and stand the test of time.
